Traditional methods for cutting quartz tubing and capillary involve a score and snap, followed by grinding to length, then annealing to relieve stresses in the material, finally the finished length must be washed to remove debris. Using precision laser cutting a tube blank may cut accurately cut to length without the need for grinding or annealing.
