Fiber cleaving

Fiber cleaving using LaserCleave, OpTek’s proprietary laser cleaving technology produces optical-quality facets on SM, MM, large-core and PM fibers and waveguides. It is the process of choice for fiber cleaving in large-volume applications for FTTH and automotive applications. It also has the flexibility to make it the ideal method for development and prototype quantities.

LaserCleave simplex machine The optical quality of the laser cleave is unsurpassed. In telecoms applications the reproducibility of the cleave angle and the exceptionally low-scatter of the cleaved surface provides enhanced performance.

Laser cleave near ferrule In high power applications the Laser Cleave process gives very high damage-threshold surfaces, which can also be produced directly on free-standing fibers, and, if necessary, on non-round fibers.
